Finding treasure everywhere

For me, true art gives us fresh perspectives on our everyday experience and points out the extraordinary things all around us. Here then, is my artwork, created purely for the joy of it.
Lookin’ good, Spicy Tuna Pie Sprinkles.

“Sweetheart,” “Babe,” and the like are classics, but sometimes you need something with a little more pizzazz. Or just goofyness. How you could not be in love with someone who says things like ...
  • Howsabout you and me, Snuggle Chow Chow Melon?
  • Raspberry Twinkle Weetabix Goober, you make my heart sing.
  • Let’s go out tonight, Poofy Viking Lake Monster!

Fortunes from old books

Sometimes profound, sometimes funny, sometimes kinda confusing—just like the advice we get from our best friends.

Roadside Floristry

Cultivated flowers are amazing and wonderful and I’m so glad they’re part of this world. But roadside grasses and backyard weeds are genuinely lovely too, if we just take the time to notice. Next time you need some beauty and adventure in your life, take a walk to your nearest weed patch and pick yourself a stunning bouquet. You’ll be surprised at how easy it is.

The verb “be” is highly irregular.

I consult the Chicago Manual of Style almost daily in my work as an editor. Every once in a while, amid a discussion on the finer points of semicolon or gerund usage, a delightfully wry comment will brighten my day. Here, in these fortune cookies (made as thank-you-for-a-great-year client gifts), is my tribute.

Sometimes the world needs to know who was right.

Sometimes it’s not enough to settle a squabble. Sometimes the winner needs to wear a sticker.

Available in sealed envelopes for service in matters that have yet to be settled.

A magpie’s book of shiny bits of wisdom.

Simply for my own personal enjoyment and growth, every once in a while I’ll go on a collage-making spree, pairing quotes I’ve found inspiring with images that expand and illuminate the meaning for me. May these sample pages bring you joy and inspiration also.
Surprise, you’re a published author!

For my husband’s birthday, I turned his travel blog into a book. Well ... when I say “I” what I really mean is, with the help of book designer Michael Myers, who made the MS Word files into something printable, and the good folks at Railroad Street Press, who sneakily put the book face-out in the “Local Author” section of their bookstore on the morning of Jeremy’s birthday. It was great fun and an excellent surprise!

Thanks, team!
